Although this is quite honestly a silly, silly idea, after listening to this week’s Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me on NPR, it could have been worse.

This was just one — and the real one — of three ideas in a “weight loss segment” on the show, and it could have been a genetically modified version of flesh-eating bacteria that was the real deal. Can you imagine: oh, yeah, it eats only fat, and you have to get rid of it via antibiotics, but don’t worry, the odds of them becoming resistant to antibiotics in minimal.

Anyway, this is the SpeedFit Mobile Treadmill. Yep, you can take the treadmill outside the house and literally “run” an errand with it. As the inventor, Alex Astilean said to NPR:

“Why stay in a gym and spend an hour to exercise when you can run your errands and exercise at the same time?”

Well, you could just save your money, and walk!

Astilean is apparently looking for investors. I say: good luck.
