Google’s iPhone Voice Search App to Recover from Laryngitis on Monday

Google’s revamped search app for the iPhone was set to be launched on Friday, and you’d figure, based on how tightly Google controls its news releases, that since the NY Times piece on the app went live on Friday, that’s when the app itself would go live. But, nope.
And we’ve been waiting for the app since. Where is it? Obviously it’s held up in the App Store approval process, but you’d wonder why Google didn’t have a solid lock on the approval date.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Google was expecting it to hit the App Store on Friday, and only that day was Google informed there was a delay.
And, you’d expect Google might get a little preferential treatment in terms of communications, but no:
One source says they’ve had little direct contact with Apple during the review, instead getting their updates via the standard iPhone developer tool, which has said “in review” for the last few days.
Just the normal tool, no preferential communications, eh? Well, no one could say that Apple is playing favorites.
However, since Google took the step of placing the app on the iPhone first, rather than its own Android platform, you’d think Apple would show a little gratitude. You’d have to wonder what decision Google would make in the future, given the same options.
Watch Google’s video for the new app; originally on YouTube, I downloaded it in case it disappears again.
